The Ama Divers

This Mural was inspired by the Ama divers from Japan. The Ama divers or "woman of the sea" specialized in free-diving about 30 feet down into cold water wearing nothing more than a loincloth. Utilizing special techniques to hold their breath for up to 2 minutes at a time on a mission to capture abalone, seaweed and other shellfish varieties. For the sake of a storyline, the mural concept evolved to "Ama Diver vs Octopus". First the octopus hides from the Ama Diver at the booth tables and then there's a battle scene at the bathroom hall of the sushi restaurant.
